At this point, we consider ourselves Temptation Island experts, ever since it dropped on Netflix last week. We know exactly where it was filmed, got the 101 on all things host Mark L. Walberg, and crucially deep-dived into which of the four original couples are still together (spoiler alert: not many). But we’re still left with a lot of questions that need answering. The top one? Just how long were they filming on that island?

Over the course of 10 episodes, four couples who are struggling in their relationship move onto Temptation Island, where they break up and move into two new villas full of eligible singles. As the series progresses, they get the chance to explore new connections and also keep up to date with that their partner is up to in the other house by watching videos of them at a bonfire. At the end of the 10 episodes, they then have to decide whether to breakup or stay together.

So exactly how long are they filming for? Here’s what you need to know.

How long is the filming for Temptation Island?

Following the release of the series on Netflix last week, David Goldberg and David Friedman spoke to Variety about the filming process of the show.

They revealed filming for this series took place back in May 2024, and they filmed for around 17 days.

“There’s not a set schedule of what night they are. It was a 17- or 18-day shoot,” Friedman told the publication. “It was 17 days of production, about three and a half weeks of calendar time because there were off days in there for crew and for cast to decompress.”

So that answers that question! They also revealed the two houses were far enough away from each other that the two groups wouldn’t be able to hear or see each other. Crucially, unlike the Spanish version of the series (which saw Montoya dramatically run back to the house after the bonfire after seeing his partner cheat), the bonfires on the U.S. edition took place in a location away from the two houses.

Honestly, just sad we were robbed of our own version of the Montoya moment.
